This has an adverse effect on the organization as whole, and ultimately, the organization’s reputation and profits. The trouble with correcting the path that the team is on is that it is uncomfortable. This being the case, a facilitator, such as a coach or consultant can offer an objective point of view and offer a platform for the improvement of a team’s dynamic without fear from the team of a hidden agenda. I.Team Dynamics
- To analyze and understand the current dynamics of the team. What are the norms, roles, goals, expectations, and issues of the team? Do certain members have an ill-defined role? Do the members make any attempt to understand one another’s roles, or do they simply make assumptions and focus on their own work? Does the team think of themselves as a group of individuals thrown together or as a real team?
- To recognize the strengths and weakness of the teams current dynamics. For example, a team may have strong cohesion interpersonally, but the vision of the team may be scattered or ill defined. From here it is necessary to develop a set of team building exercises that are suitable for the challenges the team is currently facing.
